Thinking of Retiring, Downsizing and Making Life Simpler?
I like being called a "Baby Boomer (this means you were born between 1946 and 1964) and being able to look at life with choices. Being a Boomer means the kids have probably moved out, and now might be the perfect time to downsize and explore doing some of the things you couldn't do before. I know I am thinking of ways to simplify my life and start doing what I want to do.
If you are like me, you might be asking the same questions that I am asking myself about getting older and planning for retirement.
-How important is my work to my life? Can I cut back on my hours or is working remotely an option?
-What do I really want to do? What will I do with my spare time?
-Where do I want to live? Do I want to be near my children and family or do I want to move to a place where I feel like I am on vacation?
-Will I retire at the same time as my spouse?
-Do I want to live with people my own age or interests or do I want a multi-generational or multi-housing situation? Can I see myself living in an over 55 community?
-I plan on staying healthy, but what if I get ill?
-What if I need assisting living?
-If I sell my house, will I be able to afford another one with or without a mortgage?
-How much do I want to downsize?
-What kind of housing do I want? Condo, townhouse or a one level ranch?
As a baby boomer, I can sympathize with all you need to consider about making any kind of a move. As a Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES), I can help you with the decisions associated with scaling down to a lifestyle that is easier. If you want to know what your current property is worth to see if it is feasible to make a change, I can help. Remember, it is not what you sell your home for , but what you keep that counts the most!
